Patient Gospel 3D Print Chin Repair Body Defect

â–  Interesting map

Recently, a patient named Sydney Anderson had something that many people didn't have - a brand new chin in 3D printing, and a treatment named after him. Through 3D printing technology, the doctor helped him repair the body.

Anderson unfortunately found in 1998 that he had a deadly tumor on his tongue. In order to cure the disease, Anderson has been subjected to various surgical and radiotherapy treatments. He also underwent surgery to allow doctors to destroy their facial structures and implant radium into the chin. Anderson, who lost his chin, had to use his mask to cover his true face. As for speaking, he can only rely on holding a whiteboard to write and communicate with people.

Dr. Travis Belch, a specialist in maxillofacial prosthetics at the Indiana University School of Dentistry. Belcher chose silica gel instead of plaster, used a 3D scanner for facial scanning, then 3D modeled the facial model, printed it with a 3D printer, and finally found the artist to use a special pigment to modify the fake chin and make it even more lifelike.

The new chin is a lot more comfortable to wear, it looks more realistic, and it's much lighter and more breathable, which makes Anderson easier to breathe and wears longer each time. In addition to Anderson, this program is now used by six other patients, I believe that it will benefit more people in the future.
