Datamax Introduces Easy-to-Run Ex2 Entry-Level Printer

Datamax, a leading manufacturer and global supplier of bar code labeling and RFID (radio frequency identification (RFID) printing solutions, announced on July 26 the launch of its first next-generation E-class printer, the Ex2.

Ex2 combines special design and extraordinary value in a miniature direct differential printer. In order to meet the stringent requirements of the automatic identity industry, Ex2 is designed with the latest technology.

Mark Greco, product manager at Datamax, explained: “Ex2 will set a new standard for entry-level direct differential temperature printing. Ex2 combines affordable printing, high-quality performance and the latest technology to meet the needs of healthcare and package shipping. And the need for such applications as retail. We have heard from customers and have provided a product that will meet their needs.”

Ex2's unique features such as automatic media loading, one-touch operation, and an LED, pop-up printhead, and removable roller combine to simplify user operations and maintenance. A real coverage area puts all communication and power connections under the printer, allowing Ex2 to be installed in a limited place. Finally, a center offset design allows the operator to change the various widths of the media without having to make any mechanical adjustments.

Features of the Ex2 standard include enough space for an RS-232 serial interface, an IEEE 1284-compatible parallel interface, a USB port, 2MB of downloadable flash memory, 2MB of DRAM memory, and a 5 inch OD media roll. Users can choose from a variety of options, including peeling and sensors, 4MB of downloadable flash memory, 4MB of DRAM memory, international fonts, and external media supply holders.
